Education Regulation 2020-Diploma in Pharmacy: Pharmacy Council of India
The Education Regulations 2020 for a diploma course in pharmacy have been notified in the Gazette of India, by PCI. As per ER 2020, the syllabus for each subject of Diploma in Pharmacy course will be determined by the Pharmacy Council of India. The Pharmacy Council of India is going to revise the education rules of Diploma in Pharmacy (DPharm) program, and for this ‘Education Regulations 2020’ (ER-2020) has been notified in the Gazette of India in October, 2020, on the recommendations of the National Education Policy (NEP) of Govt of India for attaining enhanced learning experiences by the students.
PCI has invited suggestions and feedback from all stakeholders concerned on the draft syllabus and suggested to forward them to Prof. Dr. S Gopalveni, convener of the Education Regulation Committee till July 10.
The central council has set up a 17-member education regulation committee to undertake a comprehensive review of the feedback it receives from academicians, institutional heads, students, pharmacy professionals and other stakeholders. Dr. Gopalveni, principal of the government college of pharmacy in Pondicherry, has been made the convener of the committee. He said the committee will analyze the feedback and suggestions, if any, on the 10th of July and forward the report to the PCI for initiating further steps. He said the committee wants to avoid negative comments on any chapter or book recommended in the draft.
भारतीय फार्मेसी परिषद (PCI)द्वारा फार्मेसी में डिप्लोमा कोर्स के लिए शिक्षा नियम 2020 (Education Regulation 2020) को भारत के राजपत्र में अधिसूचित किया गया है| ईआर 2020 (ER 2020) के अनुसार, फार्मेसी पाठ्यक्रम में डिप्लोमा के प्रत्येक विषय के लिए पाठ्यक्रम भारतीय फार्मेसी परिषद (PCI) द्वारा निर्धारित किया जाएगा| भारत सरकार की राष्ट्रीय शिक्षा नीति (एनईपी) की सिफारिशों पर, फ़ार्मेसी काउंसिल ऑफ़ इंडिया डिप्लोमा इन फ़ार्मेसी (DPharm) कार्यक्रम के शिक्षा नियमों को संशोधित करने जा रही है, तथा इसके लिए अक्टूबर, 2020 में भारत के राजपत्र में ‘शिक्षा विनियम 2020’ (ER-2020) को अधिसूचित किया गया है।
पीसीआई ने सभी संबंधित फार्मेसी हितधारकों से मसौदा पाठ्यक्रम पर सुझाव और प्रतिक्रिया आमंत्रित की है और उन्हें 10 जुलाई तक शिक्षा विनियमन समिति के संयोजक प्रो डॉ एस गोपालवेनी को भेजने का सुझाव दिया है।
केंद्रीय परिषद ने शिक्षाविदों, संस्थागत प्रमुखों, छात्रों, फार्मेसी पेशेवरों और अन्य हितधारकों से प्राप्त प्रतिक्रिया की व्यापक समीक्षा करने के लिए एक 17-सदस्यीय शिक्षा विनियमन समिति का गठन किया है। पांडिचेरी के सरकारी फार्मेसी कॉलेज के प्राचार्य डॉ. गोपालवेनी को समिति का संयोजक बनाया गया है। उन्होंने कहा कि समिति 10 जुलाई को फीडबैक और सुझावों का विश्लेषण करेगी और आगे की कार्रवाई के लिए पीसीआई को रिपोर्ट भेजेगी। उन्होंने कहा कि समिति मसौदे में अनुशंसित किसी भी अध्याय या पुस्तक पर नकारात्मक टिप्पणियों से बचना चाहती है।
This new regulation has given due consideration for the fact that, universally the roles of pharmacists undergo continuous evolution from that of ‘dispenser of medicines’ to that of ‘medicine expert’ in the multidisciplinary health care team.

The courses of the existing education regulations (ER-91) have been revisited, compared with the present and future needs of the society, expectations of the healthcare team and other stakeholders from the pharmacists were assessed, feedback from the experts in the pharmacy and other healthcare professions were sought.
PCI has introduced a new course ‘Pharmacotherapeutics’ courses (theory and practical) in a new Syllabus for Diploma in Pharmacy.
Introduction of ‘Pharmacotherapeutics’ courses (theory and practical) is one of the revolutionary changes in the new curriculum, that will help the students to hone their knowledge and skills in the area of pharmaceutical care services which will certainly redefine the roles of the DPharm qualified pharmacists in both community and hospital settings.
Pharmacy Council of India is going to update the syllabus of Diploma in Pharmacy course after 30 years, for which PCI has sought suggestions. You can send your suggestions on the draft syllabus by email.
Compared to the previous syllabus (ER 91) the modified draft syllabus consists of several new chapters with increase in contents. According to PCI it is the first time PCI included exclusive chapters on social pharmacy and pharmacy law and ethics. He said PCI has given importance to community pharmacy services through the syllabus with a view to equip the students to become pharmacist-cum-patient counselors.

‘फार्माकोथेरेप्यूटिक्स’ पाठ्यक्रम (सिद्धांत और व्यावहारिक) की शुरूआत नए पाठ्यक्रम में क्रांतिकारी परिवर्तनों में से एक है, जो छात्रों को फार्मास्युटिकल देखभाल सेवाओं के क्षेत्र में अपने ज्ञान और कौशल को सुधारने में मदद करेगा जो निश्चित रूप से योग्य डीफार्मा (सामुदायिक और अस्पताल दोनों सेटिंग्स में फार्मासिस्ट) की भूमिकाओं को फिर से परिभाषित करेगा।

पिछले पाठ्यक्रम (ईआर 91) की तुलना में संशोधित मसौदा पाठ्यक्रम में सामग्री में वृद्धि के साथ कई नए अध्याय शामिल हैं। पीसीआई के अनुसार, यह पहली बार है जब पीसीआई ने सामाजिक फार्मेसी और फार्मेसी कानून और नैतिकता पर विशेष अध्याय शामिल किए हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि पीसीआई ने पाठ्यक्रम के माध्यम से सामुदायिक फार्मेसी सेवाओं को महत्व दिया है ताकि छात्रों को फार्मासिस्ट-सह-रोगी परामर्शदाता बनने के लिए तैयार किया जा सके।
